Overview
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Service Writer is the first point of contact when customers call or walk in. The Service Writer plays an integral and vital role by listening to customers, determining the work that is needed and communicates with appropriate departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Includes, but is not limited to,
- Greet customers upon entry of store. Communicates the work that is needed to appropriate personnel.
- Answers outside calls from customers and schedules appointments
- Create and close invoices for customers
- Assist with general office duties needed to support the Service Manager
- Responsible for the receipt and flow of all incoming work, communication with customers and constant communication with all other internal departments.
- Must be able to understand, communicate, and evaluate all vendors and Int’l. Warranty guidelines, approval processes and policies during the write up and repair process.
- Establish customers’ method of payment, Purchase Order requirements and estimate requirements if needed at time of write up.
- Investigate progress of vehicle repairs and contact customer with status changes / promise time if required. As well as, explaining completed work and charges to the customer.
- Keep up to date on all warranty policies and product changes to maintain effectiveness in this role.

Candidate Knowledge
- Excellent customer service skills
- Familiar with computers
- Medium degree of product and technical knowledge.
- Must be a team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer.
- Must be self-motivated and have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must conduct her or himself in a professional manner.
